About five months after planting the seedlings last December, we harvested the onions. Many of them did not grow big enough, perhaps a little too early, but I think they did well for the first time they were made. After that we plan to plant dwarf mini-tomato seedlings.
Leaves were cut and placed in a compost bin.
去年の12月に苗を植えて約5か月、タマネギの収穫をしました。少し時期が早すぎたのか、十分大きく育っていないものも多かったのですが、初めて作った割にはうまく行ったと思います。そのあとには矮性のミニトマトの苗を植え付け予定です。
葉っぱは切ってコンポスト容器に入れました。
The Potager Garden is at its most glorious at the beginning of May. Surrounded by espalier apple trees, digitalis, poppies, flax, cornflower and roses bloom, vegetables grow and the garden becomes an ornamental kitchen garden.

The removal of the central flowerbed, which had started at the beginning of this year, was finally completed at the end of April.
The reason for this is to reduce the amount of garden work and to provide space for work and gatherings. It is part of sustainable gardening for us.
The removal has been completed, but the levelling of the ground is unlikely to be finished before the open garden. We ask that visitors to the garden take extra care with their footing for their own safety.

今年の初めから開始していた中央花壇の撤去作業もやっと四月末に完了しました。
その理由は庭作業量の低減、作業や集いのためのスペースの確保です。私たちにとっての持続可能なガーデニングの一環です。
撤去は終わりましたが、地面の整地や仕上げがオープンガーデンまでには終わりそうもありません。ご来園の際は安全のため足元に十分気をつけて頂くようお願いいたします。

The young leaves of the hostas are beautiful now.
Two different varieties of hosta with bluish leaves are growing at the entrance at the bottom of the garden. On the left is Fregrant Blue and on the right is Blue Cadet.
ギボウシの若葉が今綺麗です。
庭の下の入り口には葉が青みを帯びた2種類のギボウシが育っています。左側がフレグラントブルー、右側がブルーカデットです。
Each variety will produce beautiful blue flowers in early summer.
それぞれの品種が初夏に美しいブルーの花を咲かせていきます。
The terraced herb beds in the main garden is now bustling with activity. In the foreground are mint and rose geraniums, and the rose geraniums are beginning to flower. Up above, the lavender has not yet flowered, but the silver-tinged leaves are beautiful. German chamomile is beautiful with lots of flowers. The borage still has lots of flowers and bumblebees are always flying in.
メインガーデンのハーブの段々畑は今にぎやかです。手前にはミントとローズゼラニウムが茂り、ローズゼラニウムは花が開き始めています。上の方ではラベンダーはまだ花は咲いていませんがシルバーがかった葉色が綺麗です。ジャーマンカモミールがたくさん咲いて綺麗です。ボリジもまだ花がたくさんあって、ハナバチがいつも飛んできています。
In the peony bed in the main garden, the pink harbaceous peonies have started to flower after the yellow tree peony. There is only one dark pink flower, but the pale pink gradient peony has many buds and about five blooms.
Next to it, Allium cristophii has started to flower. It is a spherical cluster of small metallic blue-purple star-like flowers. I saw it in a garden in England and was fascinated by it, and it has bloomed every year in small numbers for more than 10 years in our garden.
メインガーデンのシャクヤク、ボタンの花壇では、黄色いボタンに続いて、ピンクのシャクヤクが咲き始めました。濃いピンクの花は一輪だけですが、淡いピンクのグラデーションのシャクヤクはたくさんの蕾がついて、5輪ほど開花しています。
その隣には、アリウム・クリストフィアイが咲き始めています。メタリックな青紫色の星のような小花が集合した球状の花です。イギリスのガーデンで見て魅入られて以来、10年以上少数ですが毎年咲かせています。
