カタカムナ文献を発見したのは楢崎皐月（ならさきこうげつ：本名はさつき）という科学者です。

一九四九年に、兵庫県六甲山系の金鳥山で科学の研究として大地電気の測定をしていたときに、平十字という猟師から「動物たちが困っているから、その測定をやめてほしい」と頼まれて、すぐにその通りにしたら、お礼にと不思議な巻物を見せてもらったといいます。
平十字（ひらとうじ）の父親がカタカムナ神社の神主であり、それは御神体の巻物だというのです。When I was measuring the earth electricity as a research of science at Mt. Kintori (Kintoriyama) of Hyogo prefecture Rokko mountain system in 1949,
He was asked by a hunter called Mr. Hira Touji(平十字) "I want you to stop measuring it, because animals are in trouble for it ".
When Mr.Narazaki immediately quit the survey as the hunter asked, he showed Mr.Narazaki a strange scroll for his thanks.
