久しぶりに「英語でなんていう」シリーズ！
今日は、私も大好きなワード「臨機応変」です。人生臨機応変性って大事ですよね。
そこで英語ではどのように意訳すると良いか、についてご紹介したいと思います！
You can express the same meaning in a few ways depending on the context. I usually like to use either the word "flexible," "can play it by ear," or "is quick on their feet!" ＝文脈によって同じ意味を違う英語で表すことができます。私は大体 "flexible," "can play it by ear," or "is quick on their feet!" を使うことが多いです！
- Flexible というワードは柔軟性があるという意味合いが強い訳しかたですね。臨機応変な対応ありがとう！＝Thank you for being so flexible！ みたいな感じで使えます。
- Play it by ear=これは様子を見ながら状況判断をすることが出来る感じです。どうなるかよくわからないから臨機応変にやろう！＝Let's just play it by ear since we really don't know what will happen. って感じです。
- Quick on your feet=頭の回転が速い的なニュアンスが強いidiomaticな使い方ですね。大丈夫だよ彼女臨機応変に出来る。=I wouldn't worry since she is really quick on her feet!
